Jenner's Riverside Corner Now Runs From Morning Coffee to Sunset Wine

On a Saturday in Jenner, the corner above the Russian River mouth now opens at 8 a.m. and, based on the posted hours, stays open until 8:30 p.m. Three counters share one property, and each one opens about when the one before it starts winding down. Until this summer, the corner closed in the afternoon.

The change came on Friday, July 3, 2026, when Siren's Cellar opened next to Café Aquatica, according to The Press Democrat. By September 1, Sonoma County Tourism's late-summer roundup listed it as open. The wine bar sits behind Jenner Outpost, which sits next to the café. Together they now cover the whole day, but only on some days of the week, and the closing time shifts with the season.

One Owner, Three Counters

The corner works as a sequence because one person built most of it. Rachel Kulinski owns Café Aquatica. Jenner Outpost's own site calls it a modern general store she founded in 2025, with curated wine, souvenirs and a café inside the store. Siren's Cellar, the newest piece, is run by Patrick Cappiello, founder of the Sebastopol label Monte Rio Cellars.

Cappiello told The Press Democrat that the idea came from his own afternoons on this stretch of Highway 1: "We would be out on the coast with our dogs and looking to grab a nice glass of wine, but there wasn't anything like that." In the same article he explained why it works financially: "We're fortunate Rachel owns the building because it helps keep our overhead costs down."

That shared building explains the shape of the day. A small wine bar with low overhead doesn't need to open at breakfast, so it doesn't. It opens in the afternoon, when the café is getting ready to close.

How the Day Hands Off

On weekends, the posted hours fit together cleanly:

  1. 8 a.m.: Café Aquatica opens. Its site says it's open seven days a week from 8 to 4, with the kitchen closing at 4 p.m. sharp.
  2. 10 a.m.: Jenner Outpost opens. It lists "Open EVERY DAY 10am-4pm."
  3. 11 a.m.: Live music starts at the café. Its music page lists sets every Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 3.
  4. Noon: Siren's Cellar opens on Saturday and Sunday.
  5. 4 p.m.: The café kitchen and the Outpost both close.
  6. 8:30 p.m.: Siren's Cellar closes, according to its posted weekend hours.

From noon to 4 on a weekend, all three are open at once. That's the four-hour stretch when you can get a chowder, buy a bottle and sit down with a glass, all without moving the car.

The café holds up its end of the day. Its Winter/Spring 2026 menu listed a gluten-free New England-style clam chowder at $14, a Lox Bagel at $17 and the Rainbow Sandwich at $15. Seasonal specials included a Local Dungeness Crab Roll at $23 and Dungeness Crab and Eggs at $30. The menu carries a spring label, so check the board before you count on those prices this fall. In March, Sonoma County Tourism reported that the café had recently made the San Francisco Chronicle critics' list of the top 25 Sonoma Wine Country restaurants.

What the Wine Bar Adds After 4 p.m.

Before July, Monte Rio Cellars was already on this corner. Café Aquatica's beverage menu lists its Pinot Grigio, Petite Sirah, sparkling white and rosé at $12 a glass or $30 a bottle. The difference now is depth, plus a place to drink it into the evening.

Monte Rio Cellars is the only wine poured by the glass at Siren's Cellar. The label focuses on heritage grapes sourced mostly from Lodi and is made at Pax Wines in Sebastopol. Its lineup includes French Colombard, Chenin Blanc, Mission and Mencia. The bottle list is much bigger. Cappiello told The Press Democrat it would run to "about 1,000 bottles, with many older vintages and large verticals." He said about half would be domestic, from California, Oregon, the Finger Lakes and Arizona, and the other half European. Local producers on the list include Lioco, Pax Cellars, Ryme Cellars and Martha Stoumen.

The food runs to boards and small bites. The Press Democrat described local cheeses, cured meats, tinned fish, pickles and cheese boards priced at $25 to $35. Sonoma County Tourism's September roundup lists sparkling, white, skin-contact, rosé and red wines alongside smoked seafood and shareable boards. The online menu is headed "SUMMER FOOD MENU + WINE LIST" and is posted as images, so ask at the bar for the current list. The outdoor seating looks over the mouth of the Russian River.

The Weekday Grid Has a Hole in It

The all-day version of this corner exists on four days. Siren's Cellar is closed Tuesday through Thursday and opens at 2 p.m. on Monday and Friday. Down the road, River's End serves dinner six nights a week and is closed Wednesday. Its bar opens at 4:30 p.m., dinner starts at 5, and lunch runs on Saturday and Sunday only.

Here's the full week across all four places, based on their current posted hours:

Day Café Aquatica Jenner Outpost Siren's Cellar River's End
Monday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. 2 p.m.–8:30 p.m. or sunset Bar 4:30, dinner 5
Tuesday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Closed Bar 4:30, dinner 5
Wednesday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Closed Closed
Thursday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Closed Bar 4:30, dinner 5
Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. 2 p.m.–8:30 p.m. Bar 4:30, dinner 5
Saturday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Noon–8:30 p.m. Lunch, bar 4:30, dinner 5
Sunday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Noon–8:30 p.m. Lunch, bar 4:30, dinner 5

Wednesday is the day to plan around. The café and the Outpost both close at 4, and none of the four places on this table is open after that. On Tuesday and Thursday, the evening handoff skips the wine bar and goes straight to River's End, where the kitchen is run by Chef Martin Recoder. River's End takes dinner reservations through Resy, which matters more on the nights when it's the only evening option here.

Monday and Friday follow a different pattern. With the wine bar opening at 2, there are two hours when the café, the Outpost and Siren's Cellar overlap. On those days it makes sense to get lunch at the café before the kitchen closes and stay on into the evening at the wine bar.

After November 1, the Sunset Question Gets Real

The two sources on Siren's Cellar's closing time read differently. The bar's own hours page puts "(or Sunset)" only on Monday's 2:00 to 8:30 p.m. listing. Friday is listed as 2:00 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday as noon to 8:30 p.m., with no sunset note. The original Press Democrat story described the schedule as ending at sunset. The table above uses the bar's own page because it's the current, itemized listing.

In July, 8:30 p.m. and sunset were close together, so the difference barely mattered. Clocks fall back on Sunday, November 1, and after that sunset comes well before 8:30. Monday's posted hours already allow for an earlier close. For Friday and the weekend, the posted hours don't say whether the bar will stay open past dark, so call ahead before planning a late glass. None of the three businesses has posted a fall, winter or daylight-saving change to its hours. Café Aquatica says its hours are subject to change, and that's a safe way to read all three.

Weather affects the music too. The café's music page says weekend sets may be postponed in winter or on rainy days and suggests calling ahead to confirm. Jenner Outpost's events page invites inquiries about hosting events but doesn't list any dates for the rest of 2026. For a gathering at the corner later this fall, the business is the source to call, since no calendar is posted.

As the days shorten, here's a plan that fits the posted hours:

  • Weekends: Café Aquatica for chowder or a crab special while music runs until 3, then Siren's Cellar from noon, with a call ahead if you're planning to stay after dark.
  • Mondays and Fridays: lunch at the café before the 4 p.m. kitchen close, then the wine bar from 2. On Mondays, expect it to close at sunset.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: the café and the Outpost until 4, then River's End from 4:30.
  • Wednesdays: the café and the Outpost, and home by dark.

Which counters are open, and on which nights, matters to anyone who owns or rents out a place a short drive from the river mouth. If you'd like to talk about what Jenner's day-to-day rhythm means for your own plans on the coast, reach out to Kris Lepore - KJL Coastal. Let's Connect.
